Section 29.010(c), G.C., requires a municipal court clerk to keep minutes of court proceedings, issue process, and generally perform the duties for the municipal court that a county clerk performs for a county court.
The court clerk carries out the ministerial duties delegated by a judge and perfoms the administrative and managerial functions for the court, as the custodian of court records. These duties and functions generally include being the custodian of the funds, summoning juries, administering oaths to the jurors, and maintaining the trial docket.
Originally from Iowa, Mara has been a resident of Llano County for over 30 years. She and her husband, Scott, raised their family during those years on a treasured piece of Llano County history, the former Granite Hills Hereford Ranch, which he managed for the Whitehead family for over 23 years. Mara has been employed with the City of Llano since June of 2005.
She was appointed Clerk of the Court in September of 2005, and began her journey into the State recognized certification process in 2010. She has achieved her designation as a Level II Certified Court Clerk, one of 348 at this level in the State of Texas, and is currently pursuing her final Level III certification. Most recently, she has enjoyed giving back and serving as faculty for the Texas Municipal Courts Education Center, Regional Training Conferences.
