Well, here I go talking about Summer Fun again. It’s been a busy year, but exciting, trying to come up with the best Llano can get with the bond monies allocated for each project area. As you remember there were funds for Streets, Swimming Pool and Playground improvements.
The Robinson Park Swimming Pool was built in 1955 and has been maintained as needed throughout the last 65 years. With the funds allocated to the pool, the $300K will include the following improvements and will be completed in five stages that have recently started.
Lap Pool: On the large pool all cracks and leaks found in the American Leak Detection Report dated 9/15/17 will be repaired. All expansion joints will be removed and refilled with new product. The concrete bottom and sides will be prepped for new paint, including swimming lane stripes and finished with Eco-finish’s AquuaBright product, giving a 100% watertight seal. The six-existing pool light fixtures will be changed out with new LED light fixtures. The existing tile will remain but broken, mismatched and sharp tiles will be replaced. All tile will be polished to look as new as possible. The pool deck surrounding the pool will be grinded, prepped for paint and finished with Eco-finish’s AquuaBright product giving a 100% watertight slip resistant seal. Chemical feed system will be replaced along with leaks repaired in the existing filtration system below the pool. Zero entry has been discussed but may need to become another project.
Kiddy Pool: The Kiddy Pool process will be to install a main drain and plumbing needed to put this pool on its own filtration system. Install plumbing for a water feature. (Refurbished Mushroom water feature may be provided.) Pool decking around the kiddy pool will be removed and replaced with the decking being the same height as the restroom doors and kiddy pool top, making everything ADA compliant, painted and finished with Eco-finish’s AquuaBright product giving a 100% watertight slip resistant seal. A 30’x30’ shade structure will be installed for the kiddy pool area.
Restrooms: Both restrooms will be made ADA compliant. A new coat of paint will be applied to the Office and restroom buildings, outsides walls, shade structure, diving board and lifeguard stands.
Repairs have started and may not be complete by this season. The pool will be open the last week of May as always and improvements will restart after the pool season is over.
Playgrounds: In working closely with the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board, we have discussed & decided to spend the 200k on playgrounds as listed below. In planning, we had presentations from 4 different vendors. Each of these vendors have similar equipment with a 20-year lifespan and great discounts spending the amount we have been allocated to spend. This group plans to select the best deal for Llano the first of May with construction starting within a few weeks of ordering and being installed and useable by July.
Robinson Park: Making this park a focal point for Llano. Swiss Family Robinson theme came to mind, so a Tree House type Playground will be installed spending about 150k on the playground, curbing, fall protection and ADA sidewalk access on this playground.
Moore Park: Making this park a sports theme type playground spending about 50k on the playground, curbing, fall protection and ADA sidewalk access on this playground.
